Dell Technologies and Meta partner to deploy GenAI
Dell Technologies is collaborating with Meta to make it easy for Dell customers to deploy Meta's Llama 2 models on premises with Dell's generative AI portfolio of IT infrastructure, client devices and professional services.
The company is aiming to help simplify the deployment of Meta's Llama 2 models with Dell Technologies Generative AI Solutions. The Dell Validated Design for Generative AI offers customers a ready-made foundation of pre-tested software and hardware, purpose-built for GenAI efforts.
This news comes shortly after Dell Technologies announced that it is expanding its Dell Generative AI Solutions portfolio in efforts to assist businesses in transforming how they work along their Generative AI journeys.
Open-source Generative AI designed to fuel innovation
The collaboration aims to simplify on-premises AI environments by bringing together Dell's top-selling infrastructure portfolio and the Llama 2 family of AI models. Customers can accelerate their Generative AI efforts on premises in a traditional data centre or at edge locations.
Dell has also integrated Meta's Llama 2 models into its system sizing tools to help guide customers to the right solution to power their Llama 2 based AI efforts.
“We are at the beginning of a new era with generative AI transforming how industries operate, innovate and compete,” said Jeff Boudreau, who was recently appointed Dell Technologies’ first Chief AI Officer.
The Dell Validated Design for Generative AI with Meta's Llama 2 provides pre-tested and proven Dell infrastructure, software and services to streamline deployment and management of on-premises projects. With fully documented deployment and configuration guidance, organisations can get their Generative AI infrastructure up and running more quickly and operate Llama 2 with more predictability.
With Meta's Llama 2 and the breadth of the Dell Generative AI Solutions technology and services portfolio, organisations of all sizes will have access to more reliable tools to deliver Generative AI solutions from desktops to core data centres, edge locations and public clouds.
“With the Dell and Meta technology collaboration, we’re making open-source gen AI more accessible to all customers, through detailed implementation guidance paired with the optimal software and hardware infrastructure for deployments of all sizes,” adds Boudreau.
“Now, customers can more easily deploy secure gen AI models on premises for powerful new approaches and insights.”
Open sourced AI is becoming more frequent within the technology sector, as companies value the importance of collaboration to create responsible and ethical machine learning systems. Technology giants like Google, Anthropic, Microsoft and OpenAI have already voluntarily partnered to champion responsible AI and ensure that it is developed safely.
Chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies Michael Dell said in a LinkedIn post: “The progress in open-source models is amazing. The ability to use these models with customer's private data will unleash tremendous opportunities” and “our partnership with Meta with Llama 2 is a great example of this.”
