AWS & Cloudera: Accelerating genAI & cloud native data

This announcement sees both companies working to build upon their existing partnership to help their customers maximise generative AI and cloud use

AWS and Cloudera have signed an agreement to reinforce their relationship and commitment to accelerating and scaling cloud native data management and data analytics. The vision of both companies is to make it easier, more economical and safer for their customers to maximise the value they get from AI.

With the availability of Amazon Bedrock, Cloudera is also releasing its latest applied machine learning prototype (AMP) built in Cloudera Machine Learning, which was built using Amazon Bedrock. Customers can use foundation models available in Amazon Bedrock for text summarisation of data managed both in Cloudera Public Cloud on AWS and Cloudera Private Cloud on-premise.

AWS Bedrock integration with CDP to optimise AI value

Earlier in 2023, AWS announced a wide range of new use cases and partnerships within AI and machine learning to reaffirm its commitment to developing these digital systems. With generative AI already revolutionising key industries, this partnership will perhaps offer both new and more simple ways for their customers to explore data and share insights.

AWS Bedrock is a fully managed, serverless service that connects to a choice of foundation models from AI companies. The integration of AWS Bedrock with Cloudera Data Platform (CDP) will enable Cloudera customers to drive value from AI in a faster, safer, and cost-effective way. They can also interact via a single Application Programming Interface (API) and select from a wide range of industry leading foundation models.

As a fully managed service, there would be no need to set up or manage any infrastructure, allowing customers to get started on building their application immediately. Cloudera customers can fine-tune the Amazon Bedrock model using their own labelled data to create a customised model for specific business issues.

Amazon Bedrock is also integrated with AWS security capabilities, which customers are already familiar with and so customers can use these to deploy reliable, secure and scalable generative AI applications.

AI continues to impact global business operations

Generative AI is fast becoming an integral part of business digital transformation. Other large technology companies have also partnered with each other to advance their deployment of AI. On a similar vein, Dell Technologies is collaborating with Meta to make it easy for Dell customers to deploy Meta's Llama 2 models on premises with Dell's generative AI portfolio of IT infrastructure, client devices and professional services.

In an interview with AI Magazine in October 2023, Cloudera’s Managing Director for Communications, Media & Entertainment, Anthony Behan spoke on Cloudera’s plans to revolutionise essential businesses.

He said: “At Cloudera, we help customers to address the complexity of running multiple concurrent workloads on different underlying infrastructure, and make more informed decisions about their data architecture.

“We are constantly evolving our platform to increase observability, deliver consistent compliance, and enable organisations to deliver benefits from data, no matter where it resides. Cloud is great, but data security, compliance and workload performance will always come first.”
